Tiffany Chan, President-elect, and Christopher Langan, incumbent Secretary, will shortly take the helm of Woburn's most organized student government.
Stella Woo will replace Langan as Secretary and Jesse Jang was elected Events Coordinator, replacing graduate Rahul Chandra. Andrew Rosselet was promoted to Treasurer upon the graduation of Nishani Umasuthan. Aiding Andrew in the treasury will be Eva Chan.
Tiffany Chan will be starting her fourth and final year on Council having occupied Executive positions for the last two, most recently as VP. Although she is best known for her saxophone work, Tiffany crossed over to the vocal idiom recently, performing "Summertime" with the Jazz Combo.
Chris Langan brings discipline and organization to the Council's top job. He will begin his third year on Council fresh from the Ontario Educational Leadership Centre (OELC), where the last two Council Presidents and Vice-Presidents were educated.
The two will be heading up a Council with expanded constituencies and higher numbers of students than those of recent years. The maintenance of communication and the establishment of a rapport with all student members of the department will be crucial: although the Council's function has always been organizational, student morale is frequently a consideration.
Council Executives wield considerable power in determining the group's agenda and taking control of projects. They work closely with teachers to aid in the operations of the Department and are often called upon to accomplish difficult tasks - even plan concerts - on a moment's notice.
To be voted to the Executive, a member of Council must serve for at least one year. He or she is elected by the Council for one term. (There has been one two-term president in the last five years.) Due to the nature of their work and the position of trust they hold, both Treasurers are appointed by the Council Advisor.
The new members of the Executive will be sworn in at the Banquet on May 28th. Elections for Council Representatives will take place in the last week of September.
