Amanda Cullman
Council Representative
When I received my agenda on the first day of school, I could barely believe how far away Woburn’s Music Banquet would be. Throughout the year, I heard many stories from others, and eventually the anticipation built to an all-time high. Now the event has come and past and I cannot say I was disappointed. All the wild stories came true, and we even made some new music banquet legends that will never be forgotten.
Of course, this being my first music banquet ever, not to mention first formal occasion as part of Woburn, there was a bit of nervousness and unfamiliarity, but as everyone knows, Woburn Music is like a big family and it’s easy to feel very welcome.
The evening began when I arrived, and placed the centre pieces on the tables. I think everyone enjoyed the stars and jelly beans, maybe a bit too much!
Of course there was dining, which lead quite nicely into all the talking of the evening. There was the music council thanks, the grad recognition, the triple awards, and presents for Mr. Farrow and Mrs. Houghton. One new thing to the banquet, was a farewell by the great MRC, Matthew Cheung, after ten years with Woburn Music, he is leaving to pursue a great future. After his speech, there were definitely a few wet eyes. Then, of course there were the infamous “Jeanie” awards. Going on for quite awhile, many funny stories were recounted, and the onion award was bestowed on Evan’s “poo problem.”
To close the evening, the dancing began. With the funky dance moves, even by Mr. Farrow, it made for an enjoyable rest of the evening.
Thanks to everyone for coming out, and making my first music banquet a night to remember!
