Friday October 26, 2007 was an exciting day for many Woburn students as our graduates of ‘06/‘07 said farewell to high school life at the Commencement ceremony. The Woburn Wind Ensemble started off the evening by accompanying the graduates and staff as they gracefully made their way down the aisles.
In her opening remarks, Gayle Ferguson, Principal of Woburn C.I., proudly congratulated all of the graduates on their momentous achievement. Her words of wisdom were heartfelt and sincere, with perhaps the strongest of her messages being to enjoy the life that you’re about to embark on and never give up learning.
Woburn Music was proud last night when a number of music students received awards, not only related to music, but across all of the subjects. Some of the notable Woburn Music alumni that won awards include Eva Chan, Louis Varahidis, and Evan Akriotis.
Before the presentation of the diplomas, the Woburn Wind Ensemble played in a stirring rendition of Clare Grundman’s ‘American Rhapsody No. 3’. It was the Wind Ensemble’s first performance of the year, and the band members did a good job of displaying both their maturity and playing ability.
After the presentation of diplomas, the graduates, parents, teachers, and current students rounded off the evening with refreshments and the chance to catch up with each other after a summer away. We wish all the Woburn graduates the best of luck in whatever they pursue after high school!

The Senior Jazz Band and Combo also did an excellent job performing at the Scarborough Town Centre for the Scarborough Walk of Fame earlier that day, where one of the honorees was Woburn alumnus Des McAnuff, a recent Tony Award winner for 'best musical'.
