Wobbly benches, mysteriously disappearing choir music, spray bottle fights, freezing cold and TONS of FUN – what else could it be, but WM’s feeder school tour ’07?
On Friday December 7th, the Jazz band and all three choirs embarked on the annual feeder school tour. The tour offers choir and jazz members a chance to perform before the holiday concert, while promoting many aspects of Woburn Music to students who will soon be choosing a high school. As Ms. Houghton aptly put it, if we were a sports team, this would be “game time”.
This year’s tour travelled to Henry Hudson SPS, JS Woodsworth SPS, and Churchill Heights PS. Between the first and second performances, the tour troupe of over 90 people returned to Woburn for a pizza lunch, where the Music Council quickly sprung into action to feed everyone quickly and efficiently.
Though equipment loading & set up could have been a problem, it went smoothly due to everyone’s cooperation. The program order was different for each school, but Chamber Choir, Madrigal Choir, Concert Choir, and Jazz Band performed at all of the locations. Three of the saxophone players from Jazz Combo also had the chance to perform at JS Woodsworth. As always, each performance closed with tumultuous applause from the students and teachers at the host school.
The feeder school tour was a complete success, as it provided fabulous entertainment while encouraging younger students to choose music in their future. All participants should be proud of their accomplishment!
