On Friday February 29, both the concert choir and madrigal choir attended the Ontario Vocal Festival. It is a place where many choirs from different schools come together and perform choral music. After each choir had performed, they experienced a 30 minute clinic where they were able to gain different perspectives on their performances from other well educated music instructors.

When the concert choir went, they performed three pieces. They were “The Lark in the Clear Air”, “Choose something like a star”, and “All ye who Music Love”. These were all contrasting pieces of music; they each had a different sense to them. While we performed, we were being watched by an audience that was made up of students from different schools, and adjudicators who judged the performances. After our performance, we went into a clinic that was full of laughs which really made everyone’s day; as did the performance of the madrigal choir. When the concert choir was finished with their clinic, we divided into two groups. The madrigal choir went to warm up for their performance, and the members of concert choir watched the other schools perform their music. When the madrigal choir went on, their performance was amazing! It had captured everyone in the audience. You could really see why they are the senior choir of our school. It was an overall fantastic day, and the small snow storm we had on the way back made the trip that much more exciting.
