OELC: A week worth the world
July 1, 2008 11:56 PM

OELC starts off like any other camp: first the kids arrive, some of them know each other, but most of them are completely alone. We pick up our cabin and bunk numbers, and then head out to meet our cabin-mates.

What begins as a scary and quiet week quickly turns into an unforgettable experience. This article should be lengthy and rambling, because that's how people usually react to such valuable experiences. But I won't waste my or your time telling you about all the fabulous activities we did or the friends that were made, because it's impossible to understand unless you have experienced it. What I can and will say about OELC is that if you are given the opportunity to go, do it. You will be frightened, you will wonder who you'll sit with for dinner, but by Tuesday night you will be gossiping about the cute boys (or girls) in your section with your cabin buddies. By Wednesday, you'll love your section and you'll finally be able to react quickly to the question "What does LD stand for?". By Thursday, you'll be scared of Saturday. By Friday, you won't want to leave, and you'll stop making fun of killer statements. And Saturday will be the hardest day of the whole week.

I've heard many people call this course "life-changing" and in all honesty, I would have to agree.
