Scott Harbin is a grade 12 student at Woburn with a passion for music. Having played saxophone since grade 5, he wants to pursue an education and a career in the field of music.
Among Scott’s many musical interests, he plays actively in the Toronto All-Star Big Band, which is both a professional endeavour and an extracurricular band. There are two bands in the TABB, the “main” band which plays professional venues, rehearses about 3 times a week and earns money through rehearsals and gigs. There is also the “sub” band which rehearses once a week and covers for the main band in rehearsals and gigs if anything happens. Scott plays baritone saxophone in the Toronto All-Star Big Band and is a member of the “sub” band and also plays for the main band in need of gigs and replacements. The “sub” band also plays about 5 – 7 performances per year on their own, and the “main” band plays up to 90 gigs a year. The TABB is about a 17 member per band group, and hosts a variety of instruments, including saxophone, percussion, trombone, trumpet, drums and vocals. More information can be found at their website.
Scott plans on studying music in university and will become a high school music teacher. Woburn is proud to have him as a member of its student body, and knows that Scott will amount to great things.
