Jersey Boys is your classic feel-good story: blue collar kids become famous musicians. The musical captures the soaring heights of the Four Seasons's career but it also plumbs the depths of their many lows. For the few brave souls in the Woburn music department that have their hearts set on becoming rich and famous musicians, Jersey Boys reads like a cautionary tale with a happy ending.

Jersey Boys arrives in Toronto at an unfortunate time. During the current economic downturn, musicals have had to fight harder for dwindling ticket sales. Musicals like Dirty Dancing and We Will Rock You have been forced to slash their ticket prices dramatically in order to fill their seats. Yet Jersey Boys needs not slash ticket prices in order to fill the Toronto Centre for the Arts. Jersey Boys transcends other lesser musicals through brilliant acting, gorgeous musicianship and excellent staging,

Woburn Music is charging $62 dollars per ticket and Jersey Boys will be worth every penny. In 2006, the Broadway incarnation of Jersey Boys won a Tony award (equivalent to an Oscar) for best musical. The Toronto version has been given 4/4 stars by the Toronto Star, 3 / 4 stars in the Globe and Mail, and 5 / 5 stars by Woburn Music's own Megan Moore. If you haven't seen Jersey Boys, pick up your form outside the music office and order your ticket now (Have your form in by this Thursday). If you've already seen Jersey Boys…I'm sure you wouldn't mind seeing it again.
