Spirit Week was on a role once again. There were so many exciting things happening in Woburn, from Twin Day to Woburn Idol. There are some people who have a talent of singing and they got to show it this past week. There was a day for culture and there were people who came dressed up beautifully in their cultural clothes. As for twin day, a group of people, couples and teachers came in dressed the same. And guess what? The singing telegrams were also back! As usual, the music council hopped into the room with enthusiasm sang their little song and left the person embarrassed in class. Everyone was excited to send their friends embarrassing singing telegrams. They have been sold for the past few years and have always been a success.
This year the music council also gave a heads up before selling the telegrams by doing a small skit in the Spirit Week assembly which included “Stop Right Now” and “Never Gonna Give You Up!” The telegrams were a perfect way of showing the school spirit and it really got people going before the March break.
There were five songs to choose from, which were: Skimmery Dinkey Dinkey Dink, The Frog Song, You are My Sunshine, Never Gonna Give You Up & Stop Right Now. The telegrams were sold for a dollar each and no more than that. Even though they had five songs to choose from, there were still some people that requested if the music council could sing different songs for their classmates and friends. Most of the students and teachers were very welcoming and excited to see who the lucky telegram receiver was. Some students and teachers were clapping and singing along while a few didn’t even know what was going on.
Everyone had a great time and enjoyed every bit of spirit week except for the fact of having tests and homework. A big thanks goes out to the music council for getting out of class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to do the singing telegrams even though they probably didn’t mind missing class.
