A Day to Remember
Written by Geetha Selvam
Every year, the Jazz Band as well as the Concert, Madrigal, and Chamber Choirs work endlessly to uphold a yearly tradition. Known as the Feeder School Tour, this tour offers enriching experiences to anyone in it. This year was a little different than most, as the Jazz Band and Choirs went to four schools rather than three. The newest introduction to our tour being Jack Miner; a middle school newly added to the gifted program.
On Wednesday, December 2nd dressed meticulously in either black and white, or in all black, our Choirs and Jazz Band headed off to our four schools in a flurry of excitement. The highlight of the day was definitely the music, shown through the vivacious Jazz tunes and melodious Choir songs. The Madrigal Choir’s “Train” had everyone on their toes, the Chamber Choir’s “Seasons of Love” displayed wonderful musicianship and the solos made by vocal and instrumental students alike showcased some of Woburn’s finest talent. Exceptional musical ability was definitely displayed through both the Jazz Band and Choirs and the impact made could be seen through many awestruck faces in the audience.
Maybe the most memorable part of this tour for many was revisiting their middle schools. Old memories were triggered for everyone who entered their old schools, and knowing that they would have an impact on these young students only brought forth more excitement for our Woburn Music Students. The Feeder School Tour gives a wonderful opportunity for everyone. The Woburn Choirs and Jazz Band get to improve their performing abilities, while many future Woburn students get to listen firsthand to some of the finest music Woburn has to offer. The Feeder School Tour of 2009 was a day that may have forever changed a child’s life, it was a day filled with opportunities, a day of fun, and definitely a day to remember.
