It is only natural that when going to Chicago, many sightseeing trips are planned. The Woburn Music department getting ready for an amazing five day trip, with many tourist attractions and music events to go to. The Windy City has lots different attractions, which have been around for many years. The attractions range from opening in the 1930’s to the 1970’s, giving a wide variety of places to go and see. From the world famous Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) to local hot-spots like the John G. Shedd Aquarium and Oceanarium, the only regret possible is not having enough time to see everything.
The restaurant selection around Chicago is fantastic, with many fine restaurants. Some famous ones are Andy’s Jazz club, the Drury Lane Dinner Theatre, the Hard Rock Café, and the Rainforest Café. The combination of dinner and music is a must, with many restaurants having live performances and theatre. The selection from all the restaurants is great, a wide variety of appetizers, entrees, sides, deserts and of course, drinks.
There are many exciting tours of Chicago, such as the Wendella Boat Cruise, a river cruise around Chicago. The cruise will go around many of the waterways, travelling to architectural spots around the city. Another tour is the Untouchables Tour of Chicago, which turns back the clocks to the roaring twenties and dirty thirties. There’s nothing like the prohibition era around Chicago to liven things up, especially when the guides are famous figures from the era. The final tour of Chicago is a guided tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, looking into the life of the young architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
Of course, what is a music trip without some music? Thankfully, there are many musicals to see and performances to listen to. Billy Elliott is the smash-hit musical about a young boy who steps out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class to follow his dreams. Winner of ten 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the show is bound to be a hit. Another musical is Ragtime, a story revolving around life in New York during the first decades of the twentieth century. With many characters from different walks of life interacting with each other, the results of what they get into will be surprising.
Chicago has many opportunities for a great time, lots of things to do and see, and a good atmosphere for travelers. Hope that the trip is a success and that everyone has a good time.
