Farewell to the School Year

Spring has many signs of change such as the buds on the trees, the warmer weather and the upcoming exams, but it also signifies the end of another school year. As a grade twelve student, this is my last spring at Woburn and apart of Woburn Music. Even though it is time to move on, I will miss what has happened around the music department and what will come in the future. There is always something happening in around Room 100, and throughout the past year, Woburn Music has had many amazing events.
Back at the start of the school year, while other departments were just warming up, Woburn Music was already doing events, such as the Wind Ensemble performing at commencement and at Markham Theatre with Elliot Del Borgo. Both the instrumental and choral ensembles were busy preparing for performances, with the Holiday Harmonies just around the corner. After the holidays, OBA and OVF became the top priority, with non-stop practicing and preparing to get the best medal. With lots of hard work, the ensembles all got medals and awards, a proof of how good our music department is. Even with the band festivals over, there is never a rest for the music students, who had to prepare for the Sounds of Spring. With everyone in Woburn Music getting to show off their hard work, the Sounds of Spring was a concert which had it all. It was a great way to close the musical year.
While this is just a brief overview of the going-ons of Woburn Music, everyone will have their own memories of their 2010-2011 year. For myself, this year has been one of the best ever, and I would give it five stars. Others may have a different view, but this year has been a lot of fun and hopefully next year will be even better. Remember to have a great summer, and don’t forget to do a bit of summer practicing before school starts up again.
